Information you provide

We collect your email address and the preferences you submit, such as streaming services, favorite movies, genres, moods, and content you want to avoid. If you contact us, we receive your name, email address, and message to respond to your request; these are delivered to our operator’s email inbox through our email provider. We also store feedback you submit, including good picks, bad picks, and movies you have seen, along with your subscription and recommendation history.

Technical and email information

Our hosting and email providers process technical information needed to operate the service, such as IP addresses, browser information, request times, and delivery records. Email events may include delivery, bounces, complaints, opens, and clicks when reported by our provider. Feedback links associate your response with your recommendations.

How we use information

We use this information to create and deliver personalized picks, manage your preferences and subscription, avoid repeated recommendations, process feedback, troubleshoot problems, protect the service, and understand how people find and use MovieMonkie.

Cookies and browser storage

We use cookies for session-related features and browser storage for interface state and advertising attribution. Reddit’s advertising tools may also use cookies or similar technologies. Browser controls let you restrict or clear cookies and storage, although doing so can affect some features. Unsubscribing from email does not by itself change browser tracking settings.

Advertising measurement

We use the Reddit Pixel to report website visits and signup events and measure advertising performance. When server-side conversion reporting is configured, signup attribution can also send Reddit a hashed email address, a hashed subscriber identifier, and available Reddit click or cookie identifiers. Hashing does not make these identifiers anonymous. Reddit processes this information under its own privacy policy and advertising settings.

Service providers and external links

We use providers for hosting and data storage, email delivery, and advertising measurement, including Cloudflare, Resend, and Reddit. They receive information needed for those functions. Movie information and artwork come from third-party sources such as TMDB. Opening an external image or following a streaming link can disclose technical information to that provider; its own privacy policy applies.

Retention and security

Subscription details, preferences, feedback, and recommendation history are retained to operate the service. Unsubscribing is separate from deletion: records may remain for subscription management, preventing unwanted sends, troubleshooting, and other legitimate operational or legal needs. We use access controls and personal management links to help protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and requests

You can update preferences and unsubscribe through our emails. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, or to ask about advertising-related processing. We may need to verify your identity. Applicable law may provide additional rights; any required exceptions or retention will be explained when responding to your request.

Children

MovieMonkie is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it.

Updates

We may revise this notice as our service or data practices change. We will update the date on this page and provide additional notice or seek consent when required.
